Sony is to produce Steve Jobs movie

Macrumors has posted that Sony is trying to pair up with Aaron Sorkin, the Writer behind The Social Network, to produce Steve Jobs movie based on Walter Isaacson's book

Sony is moving forward with a Steve Jobs movie based on Isaacson's book. And one of the writers being courted by producers to pen his story, according to a person who was briefed on the project but not authorized to speak about it publicly, is Aaron Sorkin, Hollywood's chronicler-in-chief of the complicated visionary.

The "Moneyball" and "Social Network" writer was said by the person to be considering the prospect but had made no decisions. Sony and a Sorkin representative declined to comment on the writer's potential involvement.
Steve once asked Aaron to write a movie for Pixar, Sorkin declined because he didn't "think he could make inanimate objects talk."
STEVE: Once you make them talk they won’t be inanimate.

ME: The truth is I don’t know how to tell those stories. I have a young kid who loves Pixar movies and she’ll turn cartwheels if I tell her I’m writing one and I don’t want to disappoint her by writing the only bad movie in the history of Pixar.
Steve Jobs' biography is headed toward the top of Amazon's list top-selling book for 2011, currently ranked #12

Jailbreak iOS 5 Semi-Tethered

Today Redmondpie reports that a new cydia package called "SemiTether" jailbreak for iOS 5 is now available on BigBoss repository which basically helps reboot tethered-jailbroken iDevices without having to use RedSn0w. The bad thing is that Safari, Mail, Cydia, and jailbreak apps installed on your devices will not be able to use. BigBoss describes it:
it is protection for if your device reboots while you’re on the road.

Steve Jobs: "I'm going to destroy Android"

Steve Jobs' reaction to HTC's 2010 introduction of an Android phone that shared many features of the iPhone. Jobs told Isaacson that Google's actions amounted to "grand theft."
"I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong," Jobs said. "I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product. I'm willing to go thermonuclear war on this."

Jobs met with Google's CEO, Eric Schmidt who once was in Apple's board of directors, he told Schmidt he wasn't interested in setting for any amount of money. Instead Jobs told Schmidt, "I want you to stop using our ideas in Android, that's all I want."

Jobs' attitude against Android helps explains the lawsuits that have come from Apple against both HTC and Samsung. Both legal actions have resulted in countersuits as well as attempts to ban sales of devices around the world.

New MacBook Pro Will Launch Next Week

9to5mac reported that the new generation MacBook Pro will be released as soon as next week. They also  had received the pricing of new MacBook Pro lineup, which will be the same prices for the current generation.

With supplies only becoming more constrained, and with shipments already touching down in select countries, we think a launch next week is likely (between Tuesday and Thursday). That is, of course, if there are no unforeseen circumstances. Thanks Mr. X!

Steve Jobs Worked On Apple's Next Product Until Day Before He Died

Masayoshi Son, CEO of Japanese carrier Softbank, was having a meeting with Tim Cook on the day of the announcement of the iPhone 4S. Cook had to excuse himself from the meeting after a phone call.
Son said, "I visited Apple for the announcement of the iPhone 4S [at Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California]. When I was having a meeting with Tim Cook, he said, 'Oh Masa, sorry I have to quit our meeting.' I said, 'Where are you going?' He said, 'My boss is calling me.' That was the day of the announcement of the iPhone 4S. He said that Steve is calling me because he wants to talk about their next product. And the next day, he died."

Son did not say what product Jobs and Cook talked about, but most likely Jobs was involved in plans for the next-generation iPhone that Apple is already working on. Jobs would obviously also have had input into other devices such as the iPad 3 that will be announced before the next iPhone, and he is said to have left Apple's pipeline with four years' worth of products that the company will use to plot its future.

iPad 3 Will Hit Assembly Lines By The End Of This Year

What is being said is that manufacturers have been ordered to start manufacturing one million in the fourth quarter of the year. This news comes from many analysts trying to predict what the iPhone 4S means for the future of Apple as a company where stand fiscally for the company's last two quarter.

In Fidacaro's report he references his colleague's report on the iPad where other analysts were questioning the current increase in iPad production:

We believe AAPL pulled production forward to ensure sufficient availability of iPad during the holidays, and such a move is consistent with a production decline in advance of the new model launch (we believe iPad 3 starts production in 4Q, as noted below). Thus, we believe that recent competitor reports, which only noted the 4Q production volumes two weeks ago, were misinformed. iPad 3 appears on the forecast for 4Q production start. Our checks indicate that iPad 3 has now shown up on AAPL’s production forecast for a late-4Q production start. We believe 0.6 mln-1 mln units are forecasted for 4Q production

his is great news if this pans out. As I stated in an earlier post, hopefully the iPad 3 will pave the way for what we will see in the new iPhone 5. BGR is speculating that the announcement of the iPad Mini; a less expensive option, is right around the corner. BGR noted that the Mini would most likely not be smaller in size but will compete with the Kindle Fire offered by Amazon. With Steve Jobs working on one last major project before his death, I believe that we will see the upgraded hardware, that we all desire, soon. Here is to Apple continuing to provide some knock out devices, leaving other manufacturers to play catch up in 2012. Maybe we will see the likes of Google Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich ironing out the kinks and providing a better user experience and taking control of the multi-core processors that are currently flooding the market. Even with the upset of Apple’s iPhone 4S not changing much externally, they still managed to sell over 4 million units alone this weekend. That’s an amazing amount of devices pushed out in a very very short course of time.

I had never heard of this version until just now. It never aired.

Here’s to you, Steve. You were the Crazy One.

iPhone 4S Users Report Yellow Screen Issue.

iphone 4s yellow screen
pcmac.com reported that some users are having screen quality issue with their new iPhone 4S.

The reports began trickling in over the weekend on Apple's discussion forums with some user claiming that their screen was either "washed out" in terms of contrast clarity, or displaying a yellowish tint. Interestingly, this isn't the first time such claims have been made regards to new iPhones. Last year, many iPhone 4 users have returned their iPhones, claiming that their retina display were showing whites as yellow.

So far Apple hasn't made an official statement regarding the screen reports, but those affected haven't reported any problems when attempting to return their phones for a replacement unit.

Apple leaks clues to new MacBook Pros on its own website

Last week 9to5mac revealed that Apple's planning a MacBook Pro refresh with better CPU and improved Bluetooth Wireless networking.

When you do a search in Apple's online store for Macbook Pro, you will get a list of Apple's products. In the list, there are two mysterious entries for 'MacBook Pro Memory Models' and at the button with the caption 'Ships: Coming in November'.

If they are spare parts, these often ship a week or so after the new products so the new MacBook Pro lineup could come sooner than November!

iPhone 4S now only available in some stores by reservation

An Apple representative told MacRumors that supplies are beginning to disappear, and are pushing customers to the reserve page to ensure they get a device rather than leaving the store empty handed.

9to5mac received a clarification concerning the reservation process and walk-in availability from the Apple Store Daily Download. Each evening from 9PM to Midnight, iPhone 4S buyers can log on to reservation system via www.apple.com/retail/iphone

The iPhone 4S will be available for walk-in as well. After 6PM all unclaimed reservations will be forfeited and available for walk-in customers.

Apple's Unibody MacBook enclosure manufacturer ordered to shut down over environmental concerns

According to 9to5mac , the partial shutdown of key Apple manufacturer Catcher Technology due to environmental concerns could lead to supply constraints for company's MacBook Pro and MacBook Air lineups.

Financial Times reports:
In an emergency announcement on Sunday night, Taiwan’s Catcher Technology (2474:TAI), one of the world’s biggest makers of metal casings for notebook PCs, said it had been ordered to close part of its plant in China’s Suzhou province by regulators, after local residents complained of bad odours generated by the plant.
The Apple's current MacBook Pro and MacBook Air lineups is probably the main reason Catcher is one of the biggest maker of metal casings for computers. The company expects the shutdown to cut sales by a fifth in October and Catcher's president Allen Horng had this say at a press conference on Monday:
“Shipments to our customers will inevitably be affected. We already asked them to make adjustments to their (casings) procurement.”

iPhone 4S in Space

These guys paid an eye-brow raising tribute to Steve Jobs in their own unique way, by launching two iPhone 4Ss into space by attaching them to a weather balloon. Yeah, I know, it’s an old trick, but the phones are new and do 1080P video. One of the phones had an interval photo timer app running while the other captured video. They explained:
We launched 2 iPhone 4S phones with a weather balloon to go up to 100,000. We put one of the iPhone 4S’s on an interval photo timer app and the other on video mode. We used s Spot GPS tracker (though I would not recommend it because it only tracks in 15 minutes increments.
The result of their undertaking is impressive: Check out the included clip depicting Earth’s atmosphere in full HD quality. The weather balloon eventually deflated and the iPhones landed safely, courtesy of a parachute and OtterBox cases for the iPhone 4S. Yeah, I know it’s a paradox that the iPhone 4S can safely land unscratched from the outer space and yet won’t survive  a waist high drop.
